On previous blogs, we discussed the importance of ensuring road safety through car maintenance, anticipation, and useful tips.
However, sometimes anticipation and caution are not enough, as there are unexpected events such as flat tyres, careless drivers, or a sudden breakdown, which could pose a high risk if we are not prepared.
In the blog, we have had a look at some of the must-have accessories that all drivers should carry with them that could help them overcome any issue, emergency, or breakdown on their daily commute or long-distance journey.
1. Reflective Jacket
If you experience any issues while driving and need to step out of your vehicle in the middle of the road (make sure to always do it on the hard shoulder), you need to make yourself visible.
That is why you should keep at least two reflective jackets in your car and place them in a reachable place.
2. Warning Triangle
In addition to the reflective jacket, we recommend that drivers carry a reflective triangle which should be placed at least 50 meters away from their vehicle in the event of an accident.
The warning triangle should be approved and purchased from an establishment that meets the standards set by the Malaysian Road Transport Department.
3. First Aid Kit
In the event of an accident or serious injury, the best thing to do is to wait for the emergency services. However, small cuts or minor injuries can be treated with the help of a first aid kit.
The kit should be equipped with medical gloves, antiseptic wipes, burn relief medication or gel, antibiotic cream, assorted bandages, scissors, tweezers and, in case one or more passengers suffer from severe allergic reactions, the corresponding medication or injections that can prevent an anaphylactic shock.
4. Spare Wheel
The temporary spare wheel is essential as it allows drivers to travel safely to the nearest garage in the event of a puncture. Again, the spare wheel must meet the requirements for its use on the road.
At Tayaria, we offer a wide range of tyre brands for you to choose from and our experts can help you make the best choice for your vehicle and driving style.
We even wrote a blog on the tyres we offer looking in detail at Pirelli, Goodyear, Continental, Kumho and GT Radial.
5. Car Jack
Since it is not possible to replace a punctured tyre without the aid of a jack, it is always a good idea to bring one.
This tool is used to partially lift a car off the ground to replace the punctured tyre. Most vehicles come with a car jack included as well as the spare wheel.
Although carrying these elements may not prevent an accident from happening, they can be particularly convenient in case of an emergency and help you to get back on the road as soon as possible.
